There are eight different white balance settings on the XSi, but only custom white balance give you the most accurate settings, based on exactly the light under which you are currently shooting, from the Magic Lantern DVD Guide to the Canon XSi
For stunning photography with point and shoot ease, look no further than Canon’s EOS Rebel XSi. The EOS Rebel XSi brings staggering technological innovation to the masses. It features Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System, Live View Function, a powerful DIGIC III Image Processor, plus a new 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor. The EOS Rebel XSiís refined, ergonomic design includes a new 3.0-inch LCD monitor, compatibility with SD and SDHC memory cards and new accessories that enhance every aspect of the photographic experience. The Xsi will be available in April at calumetphoto.com.
New Canon 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC III image processor Canon’s CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range, and offers the most pixels in its class. It offers many of the same new technologies to maximize each pixel’s light gathering efficiency that were first seen with the professional EOS-1D Mark III model. It’s an APS-C size sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm), and there’s an effective 1.6x increase in the lens’ marked focal length when attached. Canon’s DIGIC III Image Processor dramatically enhances image quality and speeds up all camera operations for intuitive operation. It works in concert with the EOS Rebel XSi’s sensor to achieve unprecedented levels of performance in all lighting situations.
The EOS Rebel XSi is the first EOS Digital SLR camera to use popular SD and SDHC memory cards only. Compact, inexpensive and available in increasingly large capacities, SD and SDHC memory cards are a perfect complement to the EOS Rebel XSi’s compact and lightweight body design.
This is a quick video shot in 1080p at 20fps on the Canon Rebel T1i (EOS 500D). The lens used was just the kit 18-55mm. No color correction was done and no compression as well. Enjoy and tell me what you think.
Tell me what you think of it tell me the accessories i should get just pretty much give me your input.
Good value camera with great image quality.
No headline features really but thats reflected in the price.
The buffer might be a little slow for things like fast moving sports or animals, but fine for everything else.
Get it with the kit 18-55 lens, ideally the IS version if possible.
Shoot RAW.
Get a good tripod, manfrotto or giottis. Buy a decent one and it’ll do you for life.
Think about a second lens. Do you want more reach? The 55-250 IS lens is the perfect compliment to your kit. If this is a bit pricey then the EF 55-200 USM II is a great cheaper alternative.
A flashgun is a good extra thing to have, but maybe see how you get on with the built in flash first.
I find the rebel cameras a little small in the hand and so I have the grip on mine, the canon bg-e5 should fit yours and will give you controls in portrait mode as well. A second battery is a sensible extra purchase.
